one of my students sings on tv

On March 19 of this year, one of my students (whose English name is Rachel) appeared on TV to sing a song as part of a contest show. 

You can watch her in the following youtube video and see a little of Taiwan TV culture at the same time. :)  She even gives an acapella encore.  And the audience even claimes to get "chicken skin" or as we say in English "goose bumps."

She has an awesome singing voice in my unbiased opinion.

Tell Rachel that this Texan missionary living in Ecuador also got "chicken skin" listening to her beautiful voice! I hope she won the contest! And yes, it is interesting observing some of the delightful Chinese youth culture as depicted in the way the program is presented.

i understood most of it. and i agree with the others that she's got a good voice. Let's pray she comes to know Christ and then she can use it to bring others to know Him!

single in Christ In a nine-part series John Piper recently did on Marriage, Christ, and Covenant: One Flesh for the Glory of God, his last sermon was directed towards singles. It is entitled "Single in Christ: A Name Better Than Sons and Daughters." I highly reccomend watching it online or downloading the mp3 to listen to offline. It was so encouraging as well as challenging. I've not yet listen to the first eight sermons in the series, but I wholly expect them to be excellent and right on target as well. Now I can probably only do about 5-10 for each. But, this still impress my students. 4. I do not have a credit card. They actually scare me a little. 5. I love it when my dog licks my face. 6. During the course of my life, I've never lived in the same house for longer than three years. And, unil junior high, the same thing could be said about living in the same city. 7. So, I have no "home town," just a "home state." 8. Even though I come from Texas and have visited Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, China, and Hong Kong, I have never been to Mexico.
